The most anticipated day of Big Sky's spring season returns. Watch skiers and riders attempt to cross an ice-cold pond in full costume while the entire mountain cheers them on—then stay for me n ü's "hope house" performance in The Bowl.

Event Schedule

Kicking off the pond skim celebrations, me n ü brings their "hope house" sound to The Bowl. The female DJ, production, and songwriting duo has quickly emerged as a rising act in dance music with their debut single "JUMP" sparking millions of streams. Their energetic, feel-good sets rooted in nostalgia and connection make them the perfect soundtrack to Pond Skim's celebratory energy.

Getting to the Bowl
Ski & Snowboard Access Only
The Bowl is accessible by skis and snowboards only—no pedestrian access is permitted for Spring Series events. To attend, you'll need a valid lift ticket or season pass for April 4.
Plan Your Day
Spring Series draws large crowds to The Bowl, and parking lots fill quickly - carpool, arrive early, and plan ahead for a safe ride home.

APRIL OPERATIONS CALENDAR

Daily operations run through April 12. Starting April 13, we shift to Bonus Weekend operations—open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through April 26 with a limited terrain footprint.
During Bonus Weekend operations, lodging check-in is available Thursdays and check-out is available Mondays. Spring Series continues all four Saturdays.
Pond Skim FAQs
Pond Skim registration will open in mid-March. Registration will fill up quickly.
Access to our online store will be managed by an online queue to ensure a smooth purchase process. We will announce the opening time for the queue ahead of March 16th. Keep an eye on our social media and sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop on registration timing.
Registration is $35. Registrants will receive a limited edition commemorative towel and the chance to win prizes.
Pond Skim is a family-friendly event, and all ages are welcome. There will be prize categories for under-18s and over-18s. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign waivers.
Pond Skim is for fun, and prizes are a bonus for standout runs chosen by our judges. All Pond Skim participants will receive a commemorative towel and additional prizes will be awarded to the contestants that impress us the most. The awards ceremony will take place once all the participants have gone.
The pond will be at the base of Upper Morning Star, downhill from the Powder Seeker lift. Pond Skim participants will ski down Upper Morning Star from the top of Powder Seeker and be stationed above Gun Mount prior to their run.
Registrant check-in is between 9:30 - 11 AM outside of Mountain Sports in the Mountain Village Plaza. Please come to check-in in your costume. Failure to check in by 11 AM will result in your spot being released to walk-up entries. There will be no refunds for unclaimed registrations.
After you check in, all Skimmers will load Powder Seeker at 1 PM. Gather at the bottom of Upper Morning Star with Ski Patrol. You’ll line up in numerical order.
Pond Skim will begin at 1:30 PM. There is an optional feature.
Bring a change of clothes in case you make a splash. We will have a changing space for Skimmers at the Bowl.
Yes, lift tickets or a valid pass are required. There is no walking access to the venue—skiing or snowboarding from the top of Swift Current 6 down Jaywalk is necessary to reach the Bowl.

Pond Skim Gear
- Participants must be on full-size alpine skis, telemark skis, monoski, or snowboard—no snow bikes or snow decks allowed
- Helmets are required
- No ski poles
Costumes
- Costumes must be family-friendly—if your costume is deemed inappropriate, you will not be allowed to participate
- Costumes must be firmly secured
- No buffs or face coverings
- No pyrotechnics
- Please bring a change of dry clothes
Skimmer Conduct
- Participants must be fully sober—please celebrate responsibly after your run
- Registrants must check in by 11 AM on April 26. If not, their spot will be released to day-of registration
- Participants must be able to swim
- No inverted maneuvers
