Big Sky Resort Unveils Iglu, A Snow-Built Bar at the Base of Lone Peak Tram

BIG SKY, Mont., February 5, 2026 – Big Sky Resort announces the opening of Iglu, a bar built entirely from snow and ice at the base of the Lone Peak Tram. Located in the Bowl at 9,000 feet, Iglu creates a distinctive gathering space where guests can pause before ascending Lone Peak or celebrate after their run.

Inspired by centuries-old European alpine tradition and crafted by Austrian master builders, Iglu is a striking example of winter architecture. Walls of packed snow and hand-sculpted ice enclose an unexpectedly warm interior, designed in partnership with home furnishings brand Arhaus. Plush, artisan-crafted seating, rich textiles, and refined natural materials transform the structure into an elevated on-mountain retreat where guests can enjoy champagne, Montana craft beers, Aperol signature drinks, mulled wine, and hot cocoa.

“Built entirely from snow, the Iglu at Big Sky is certainly not your average mountain ‘venue’, and that’s rather the point,” said Simon Harris, VP of Food & Beverage at Big Sky Resort. “The craftsmanship from our Austrian building partners is superb, and the fact the whole structure is fleeting, is unique in its own right. Inside, our partnership with Arhaus adds an unexpected layer of warmth and luxury, that is befitting of the Big Sky experience.”

Iglu creates space for connection throughout the day, where guests gather before heading up or toast what they just accomplished. Select dates throughout the season feature curated musical and culinary programming in partnership with Rivian, Arhaus, and others, as well as Big Sky Resort’s celebrated Spring Series.

“We were inspired by Big Sky Resort’s vision for Iglu as an experience deeply connected to its surroundings,” said Hannah Wickberg, Head of PR and Partnerships at Arhaus. “It felt like a natural opportunity to bring warmth, comfort, and craftsmanship into the mountain environment and to give visitors a memorable way to experience the Arhaus brand—set against one of the most captivating landscapes in Montana.”

Through the partnership, Arhaus furnishings enhance the on-mountain experience, from a warm seat inside the snow-built structure to comfortable outdoor lounge seating where guests can relax and take in the views from one of the resort’s most distinctive venues.

Iglu is now open for the winter season at Big Sky Resort. For more information, visit bigskyresort.com/iglu.
