From Snow to Dirt: Big Sky's "Bike the Sky" Signature Trails Take Flight
In Winter 23-24, Big Sky Resort introduced skiers and riders to a new way of experiencing the mountain with the "Ski the Sky" signature route map—curated lines that showcased the best of what our terrain had to offer.
Now, as the snow melts and trails transition from winter to summer mode, we're excited to announce the next chapter: Bike the Sky, bringing the same thoughtful curation to Big Sky's renowned Bike Park. These routes offer carefully crafted journeys designed by our trail crew, the people who know every root, rock, and flow section on the mountain.
Ride Like a Local
What makes Bike the Sky special? It's about riding like someone who calls this mountain home. Our trail crew has hand-picked two distinct downhill routes that go beyond the obvious choices, connecting hidden gems with iconic features to create epic days on the hill.
Whether you're an intermediate rider looking to build confidence on new terrain or a seasoned expert hunting for fresh line combinations, these signature routes tap into the unexpected flow, tech, and rhythm that make Big Sky's Bike Park special.
Two Routes, Endless Adventure
The Intermediate to Advanced route serves as the perfect progression for riders ready to step up their game. Starting with a Swift Current 6 warm-up, the day flows through expertly crafted trails like Tango to Last Waltz and then ramps up with technical challenges on Flicker to Snake Charmer. The route then flows through the deep descents of Soul Hole and the adrenaline rush of the Gambler Jump Line before ending on a high note with the feel-good favorite Happy Hooves via Ramcharger 8.

For those craving maximum intensity, the Advanced to Expert route doesn't hold back. After warming up on the Happy Hooves to Blue Room sequence, riders dive deep into the mountain's most demanding terrain. Buffalo Jump, the technical mastery of E.L.S.H, and the playful challenge of Ninja Marmot to Sneaky Weasel create a day that will test every skill in your toolkit, and finishes off the day with a Ramcharger 8 fun run.

This is just the beginning. Next season, we're expanding the Bike the Sky program to include beginner-friendly terrain accessed by the new Explorer Gondola, ensuring every rider has a signature route to call their own.
