Good Morning Skiers & Snowboarders, this is Mario with your Big Sky Snow Report for Thursday, April 18, 2024.
No new snow overnight, but the 14" that all fell the night before last will certainly have you hooting and hollering out there on the slopes today. It is frigid out there with temps in the single digits or below zero right now, and it's supposed to stay cold all day long. We've got sun in the forecast, and temps below freezing to keep most of this snow light and fluffy. Anything that's getting direct sun is likely going to get a little heavier as the day goes on, but there's plenty to work with out there. By noon we will be back in the 20's at mid mountain, skiing off of the Tram is gonna be cold all day long. There's no telling how many good days we have left, this is certain to be one of them.
Today's temperatures are expected to range between 1°F this morning and 30°F this afternoon, with mid mountain temps around 20 by mid day. Winds are expected to be calm and out of the North at 5-15mph, shifting Westerly later today and possibly bringing us another layer of snow.
Our groomers are gonna be top notch today with all of that new snow packed down, and there's gonna be soft turns to be found all day long in the trees. This dump was exactly what we needed and it's the perfect kind of snow to keep our stokes high. It certainly hasn't gone anywhere and has only settled in more with temps dropping so low overnight. Maybe a little more snow tomorrow before a warm and sunny spring skiing weekend. Get out here and enjoy the leftovers! As always, remember to stay safe, and have fun out there.
