"Do A Bowl!" - Day 7 of 137
Come on up, the powder's fine!
Anticipation grows as Big Sky Resort gradually opens the lifts and terrain to all skiers, based on snow conditions. All snow-riders were grateful for the Thanksgiving Day opening of and exceptionally well-covered Mr. K groomer accessed by Swifty lift.
The addition of Calamity Jane kicked up the variety a bit over the weekend, but the real skiing started when the Triple Chair access to the Bowl was granted earlier this week and then the heavens graced us with over a foot of the fluffy stuff!!! This is where the fun begins in Big Sky and all riders super-loaded the lift to help with the necessary snow-compaction. The powder was a couple feet in most places ... although early season trepidation was wise to avoid inevitable snow snakes!!
The "Freaks" were out in full force as frequency card holders enjoy the free week of skiing thru Saturday; mixed with other visitors and locals they made their way across an incredibly forgiving and speedy early-season Turkey Traverse before choosing a line of descent through the bowl ... and there was a bunch of powder to enjoy even if the number of turns was limited. The same was true for those venturing into the trees all over the hill. The weekend weather report promises a continuing snow patteren to help us get to the top of Lone Peak before you know it! And the fun is just getting started, as Mountain Ops intends to open the Challenger lift this Thursday. If you haven't done your part to trail-blaze in the fresh stuff during opening week ... get on up here and help a brother out!
Let's Ride The Sky!
