Arts Council of Big Sky - Jack Gladstone and David Griffith in the Summit

Join the Arts Council of Big Sky for the third concert in their annual Peggy Dicken Schwer Memorial Dinner Concert Series, as they welcome the award winning Native American storyteller, poet and musician, Jack Gladstone, to the Talus Room in the Summit Hotel at Big Sky Resort. Joining Jack will be well-known multi-instrumentalist David Griffith.
Jack Gladstone is a Native "PoetSinger" and lecturer from the Blackfeet Indian Nation of Montana. Regarded as a cultural bridge builder, he delivers programs nationally on American Indian mythology and history. In a career spanning three decades, Jack has produced fifteen critically acclaimed CDs. In 1985, Jack co-founded "Native America Speaks," an award-winning lecture series for Glacier National Park.
A former college instructor, Jack has been featured on both the Travel Channel and in USA Today magazine. Honored as a modern day warrior and bridge builder, he holds a Human Rights Award for Outstanding Community Service from Montana State University. Since 1997, Jack Gladstone has collaborated with Lloyd Maines, Grammy winning producer of the Dixie Chicks. He was also a key tribal voice providing alternate perspectives of the Lewis and Clark expedition during the recent bicentennial commemoration. In 2004, Jack narrated the Telly award winning Lewis and Clark film Confluence of Time and Courage.
In 2008, 2007 and 2006, Gladstone headlined programs at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indians in Washington D.C. In the fall of 2008, Jack travelled as Montana's spokesperson and troubadour for the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree. In 2010 Jack released "Native Anthropology", a landmark recording achievement in a career that has spanned almost three decades. Co-produced by legendary multi-instrumentalist David Griffith and Montana's own Phil Aaberg, "Native Anthropology" is Gladstone's most elaborate and timely album to date.

David Griffith has been a professional musician for 40 continious years, performing with greats such as the late Vassar Clemens, Micheal Martin Murphey, also the late Gene Clark and Mike Clarke, (from 'The Byrds'), Canada's KD Lang, Mark Konig, Ian Tyson, Camron Molloy, and many others. David is well known regionally known for his work with Montana artists Rob Quist, Jack Gladstone, Andre Floyd, Big Daddy, and John Dunnigan.

Tickets are $50 per person, including resort tax and credit card charges, as well as the dinner. Please check back for menu information. Advaced reservations only by phone at (406) 995-2742, all major credit cards accepted. No reservations will be accepted at the door. Cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner service begings at 6:45 and the concert will start following dinner, around 8 p.m.
