Big Sky Offers Winter Scenic Tram Rides

3/11/12

BIG SKY, Mont. — Big Sky Resort’s Lone Peak Tram is now open for an extra half hour each afternoon for scenic rides when the Tram closes to ski traffic.  From 3:00-3:30pm, guests may board the Lone Peak Tram without skis or snowboards to take in views from Big Sky’s 11,166-foot summit before riding the Tram back down.

“The 360-degree views from the top of Lone Peak are amazing, and the Tram has always been open to anyone who wants to experience that,” said Meg O’Leary, Big Sky’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “But Lone Peak’s expert terrain can be intimidating.  With a designated time for scenic rides, guests feel more comfortable going up without their skis.”

The designated time for scenic trips allows all guests to spend more time skiing and less time waiting to take the Tram.  While all guests are welcome to ride the tram during operating hours, Big Sky Resort encourages guests to take their scenic rides after 3:00pm.

“The designated time for scenic rides comes in conjunction with other recent efforts to make sure everyone’s Tram experience runs smoothly and efficiently,” said O’Leary.  “Extending Tram hours for scenic rides is a no-brainer for helping us do that, and guests are already taking advantage of the opportunity.”
