New Bozeman Direct Flights: Portland, Oakland, and New York
1/24/12BIG SKY, Mont. — Already offering direct flights to ten major cities and hubs, the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport now adds Portland, Oakland, and New York to the list, making for 13 cities that offer direct flight service to and from Bozeman starting as early as June 2012.
Alaska/Horizon will offer new daily non-stop service between Bozeman and Portland beginning June 4th and continuing through August 25th, 2012. Allegiant Air will begin non-stop flights twice weekly to the San Francisco Bay Area via Oakland International Airport (OAK) beginning April 27, 2012.
In October 2011 approval was announced for a $950,000 federal grant to establish new direct flights between Bozeman and New York. The grant, in addition to a $688,750 contribution from Big Sky Resort and other community partners in both Big Sky and Bozeman, will likely support weekly service to New York as early as this June.
The newly renamed and expanded Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) recorded an all-time passenger boarding record with 397,822 passengers boarding airline flights in 2011. This represents an 8.9% increase of nearly 33,000 passengers more than the previous record set in 2010.
“Big Sky Resort is committed to delivering a great all-around vacation experience, and that starts with getting here,” said Meg O’Leary, Big Sky Resort’s Sales and Marketing Director. “Big Sky will now be that much more easily accessible to our east and west coast guests, and we believe this will enhance their overall Montana experience. Our new, larger airport means greater flight capacity, and we’re so excited to add new cities to our roster.”
Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport currently provides direct flight service to the major hubs of Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and Seattle as well as other airports such as Phoenix, Minneapolis, and San Francisco. The airport’s recent expansion makes it the largest airport in Montana. It is currently served by Alaska/Horizon, Allegiant, Delta/Skywest, Frontier, and United/United Express airlines.
