Big Sky to Offer New On-Mountain Dining Option for Winter 2009-10

11/10/09

BIG SKY, Mont. —Big Sky skiers ripping the amazing big-mountain terrain on the South Face of Lone Peak may feel they’re on the edge of the world, but new this season, they’ll be closer than they think to delicious food served up at the Shedhorn Grill. The new on-mountain dining option will be located near the Shedhorn lift where Larkspur and the Middle Road intersect.

The grill will operate daily throughout the winter season pending the operation of the Tram and Shedhorn lifts and is accessible from both.  Serving a variety of locally sourced food, including bison burgers and bratwursts along with a wide selection of snacks and beverages the Shedhorn Grill will satiate the appetite of any hungry skier or rider.

Relax on the sun deck with lunch while taking in the panoramic views of Lone Peak and Cedar Mountain or swing through and grab a quick snack to prolong the powder turns and big lines from the Lone Peak Tram. The Grill will have on-snow seating in addition to seating for 20 inside along with seating for 20 outside on the deck.

The Shedhorn Grill construction is an environmentally friendly yurt and adds to the on-hill dining at Big Sky Resort. Complementing the Pinnacle Restaurant on the top of Andesite Mountain and The Timber’s and Moonlight Deli located near the Iron Horse Lift, the Shedhorn Grill will add a wonderful new aspect to on-mountain food outlets.

The operators of the new Shedhorn Grill, Montana Backcountry Adventures are experienced with providing hearty meals in remote locations as they also run the Montana Dinner Yurt only accessible by snowcat for a memorable evening option at Big Sky Resort. Go to www.skimba.com for more details.

“We’ve got great food choices in the base area and around the mountain, and for many, the lack of crowds makes it easy to get in and out after lunch, but bringing the food service up to the big mountain skiers and riders on the South Face is elevating the service level Big Sky prides itself on,” said Dax Schieffer, Director of Public Relations.  “What better way to complement the most amazing lift accessible ski terrain in the U.S. to offer quick, easy and delicious food for the powder glazed guests on the mountain, we couldn’t be more excited for this partnership this winter season.”
