Great Snow Opens More Terrain and Services

Update for December 19, 2008

It is good, oh so good out there.  From the Lone Peak Tram Marx is perfect wind groomed and carvy.  More terrain likely to open for the weekend.

Update for December 12, 2008

Saturday the 13 of December the Lone Peak Tram along with Ramcharger will be opening. This brings Big Sky's total acreage to 1,320.  On Monday, December 15 the Pinnacle Restaurant on top of Andesite will be open for business as well.  The hard work of the Mountain Operations staff and cooperation of Mother Nature with early season snow and ideal snowmaking weather continue to allow Big Sky Resort to expand its terrain.  More terrain is scheduled to open throughout the week so check back often for updates.

Update for December 8, 2008!

Can you believe it?  Big Sky pounded with another foot deep storm starting Sunday evening, Challenger and Bowl are skiing mid-winter conditions with face shots and silky light powder conditions.  More terrain scheduled to be open later in the week.  Big Sky has some of the most natural terrain open in the Rockies or the Northwest, book your vacation today, we have plenty to share.

 12/5/08  Big Sky Resort has opened more terrain this week, dropping the ropes on over 750 acres serviced by seven lifts.  The first week of December brought over a foot of snow and with ideal snowmaking conditions and low temperatures to assist with getting more terrain open.

Big Sky is offering skiing for all levels from beginner to expert with black diamond skiing from the Challenger Chair and the Lone Peak Triple.

"We had nearly 1,500 skiers on Friday enjoying the early season opportunity to get turns in", said Dax Schieffer, Public Relations Director of Big Sky.  "With more snow in the forecast, we're excited that we've got something for everyone this early in the year."

Big Sky received over a foot of snow on Tuesday prompting snow safety and ski patrol to work long hours doing avalanche control work to open more terrain.  The Summit hotel along with outside condominiums are open.  Also snowsports school, rental and many restaurants and retail shops are serving guests visiting the Big Sky Mountain Village.
