Wet and Wild Party Slides Into Big Sky August 10

8/06/08

Big Sky Resort is turning on the hoses and cooling off the kids on Sunday, August 10 in the plaza area from noon until 3 pm.  The event will feature slip-n-slides in the base area along with food, music and inflatables.

Activities for the day will be free and are designed for the whole family. The day will include several slip n’ slides.   A few will be placed on level ground for the beginners while others will be set up down the grassy hillside for the more advanced sliders.  There will also be sprinklers spraying water for both parents and the kids to cool off.

The ever-popular bounce house and a slide from Airtime Inflatables will be set up in the plaza area with free access for children. The Kid’s Club crew will be set up under the colorful tents on the Summit lawn for water balloons and squirt guns.  Along with the Kid’s Club activities there will be volleyball and kid-friendly horseshoes.

What watery summer day in the sun is complete without food?  The burger bar located in the plaza area will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving burgers to help fuel the kids and parents playing around in the lawn.

For the parents wanting to shop while the kids are playing, Big Sky Sports will have racks of clothes in the plaza area that will be on sale the day of the event.

The event is in response to the strong community support of the winter events calendar that has created a following from locals in the area.  Other events scheduled this summer include Mountainfest featuring live music from Montana Rose on August 30, and  a outdoor concert with The Hooligans,  Moonalice and Melvin Seals and the JGB on August 30 and 31. Moonalice features famous musicians G.E. Smith from the Saturday Night Live Band, and Pete Sears from Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna, among many others.

In addition to Wet-n-Wild, to kick off the weekend check out the Big Sky Country Fair, celebrating its 28 year. The day begins with a 5k race and is followed by a local community parade which ends at the fairgrounds just in time for the opening of the main events: the art exhibits and live music! There are also numerous children's activities, farmer’s market vendors and food vendors to keep everyone satisfied. For questions or if you would like to participate, call the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce at (406) 995-3000.

“With the Big Sky Country Fair on Saturday, we decided to keep the weekend rolling with another great community event,” said Dax Schieffer, Big Sky Director of Public Relations.  “There is no better way to spend an afternoon and beat the heat than at Big Sky playing on the slip-n-slides.”
