Big Sky Resort Ranked #8 by SKIING  Magazine

BIG SKY, -Mont.  The October issue of SKIING Magazine told those who live here what they already know, Big Sky is a top 10 resort in North America.  The reader's poll put Big Sky in the ninth position while the editors ranked the resort one spot higher at #8 with a double page photo spread.

 Focusing on the important issues to skiers such as terrain, snow and vertical drop, Big Sky finished in the top five list for the continent's best steeps.  Big Sky Resort was the only Montana resort to make the list.

 Of course we love it when the readers of one of the leading publications in the industry give Big Sky the nod as a top resort, said public relations manager, Dax Schieffer. It's been news like this that keeps our phones ringing and bringing new guests to the area.

 According to the writer, Kim Ross, Big Sky stands out with steep runs off the Lone Peak Tram, bringing excitement and anticipation for the double black diamond terrain.

 I left Big Sky for the classroom two years ago, but I return each winter, riding the Lone Peak tram and slipping into Big Couloir, raising my heart rate, and remembering how to ski steeps so committing they make graduate exams seem easy, as reported by Ross.

 In the past year, the resort, along with its neighbor, Moonlight Basin have attracted national media attention in the Washington Post, the New York Daily News, Los Angeles Times and many other publications.  This season Big Sky finished in the 26th spot for SKI Magazines reader's poll and received a positive review in Powder Magazines resorts review in the October issue.

 Big Sky Resort's commitment to providing the best terrain and access will continue to improve this season with the introduction of the Dakota Lift.  The triple chair will improve access to Bavarian Forest and the recently opened 212 acres of Dakota Territories adding more capacity to the biggest skiing in America.
