Big Sky/Bozeman Attracts New Air Service For Summer
6/20/07BIG SKY, MT.- As the Big Sky area continues to grow in popularity coupled with strong relationships with airline planning officials and the financial commitment of Big Sky Resort and its partners, air service continues to trend upwards. The increased seats and cities are occurring during a difficult time for major airlines while restructuring to attain financial stability.
Gallatin Field is the 7th busiest airport in the Pacific Northwest providing access to Bozeman, Big Sky and Yellowstone National Park. This summer gets busier with new weekly non-stop service from San Francisco provided by United Express. Chicago has splashed on the scene starting with limited service in winter 2005, shifting to daily service last summer and winter followed by twice daily flights for this summer. Chicago started with contracted guaranteed resources from Big Sky Resort and its partners. Atlanta non-stop service from Delta began as once a week with a contract with Big Sky partners including Moonlight Basin and Yellowstone Club and is now planning three flights a week for this summer.
?We?ve worked so hard developing relationships with the airlines over the years, adding three cities in two short years is amazing,? said Big Sky director of sales and marketing Meg O?Leary. ?I?m thrilled with the response we?ve been getting from United and Delta to complement our historical access cities, Minneapolis, Salt Lake, Denver, Seattle and Detroit.?
Big Sky Resort has long been a leader in attracting additional air service into the Bozeman airport. 12 years ago Big Sky guaranteed a winter flight from Seattle and today Horizon Air brings in three daily flights.
Big Sky?s not the only business to handle the increased popularity. The Air Traffic Control Tower at Gallatin Field handled a record 82,937 aircraft operations during the year, up 15.9%, passing the 80,000 mark for the first time. The Gallatin Airport Authority is currently working on its master plan to accommodate anticipated growth over the next twenty years.
To book these new flights and all airline tickets into Bozeman guests may call Big Sky Central Reservations at 1-800-548-4486 and be connected to the air department. Guests may also shop and book lodging and vacation packages on-line at www.bigskyresort.com.
