Big Sky Folk Harpist Concerts Announced
7/02/07BIG SKY, Mont. - Many world-renowned harpers will visit Big Sky Resort on July 4 through July 8. They will be performing live in the Missouri Ballroom at the Yellowstone Conference Center and the shows are open to the public.
There will be free ?mini-concerts? on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday will feature Seumas Gagne playing Scottish Clarsach, Thursday will feature Keri Zwicker and Friday will be John Metras with a cross-strung harp.
There will be a variety of musical styles to experience at the evening concerts starting at 8 p.m. admission is $10 for the shows. Wednesday evening will be ?A 4th of July Salute to American Music?, including the WolfTones who specialize in 50?s music, Louise Trotter playing American Folk, Ray Pool will feature Broadway and Park Stickney will feature Jazz.
Thursday?s line-up will be Cynthia Cathcart with a wire-strung harp, HEN is a duo featuring Sue Richards and Sharon Knowles. Sunita Staneslow will perform music from Israel and Nicholas Carter will play a Paraguayan harp.
Friday?s shows will be Cynthia Shelhart with a double-strung harp, Annette Bjorling playing Klezmer music, also performing that evening?s concert will be Lisa Lynne and Harper Tasche.
Saturday?s show will be Joy Yu Hoffman playing a Chinese Harp and then the Masters of the Celtic Harp will perform with William Jackson from Scotland and Grainne Hambly of Ireland. Also on the schedule will be Aryeh Frankfurter and Kim Robertson.
At the Missouri Ballroom in the Gallatin Room there will be an exhibit hall featuring harps and related items that will be open to the public. The hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. The exhibit hall will be free admission.
