Kids & Teens

At Big Sky, we strive to provide a quality learning experience in a safe and fun environment. Children are placed into groups according to the skills they demonstrate, from first timers to all mountain rippers. See the skill levels section to determine the appropriate lesson level. With an emphasis on technique, we strive to provide your child with solid skills that they will utilize throughout their skiing/snowboarding life. Half- and full-day lessons are available and all programs can be combined with daycare.

A full-day can be a lot for a youngster. To make for a more enjoyable experience, we recommend starting them off with a half-day program. Please keep in mind that our instructors may decide to give the group a break, depending upon their needs. Be supportive and encouraging with your child in order for them to gain a true love and respect for the sport All children learn at a different rate - and that's ok!

Mommy and Me

Parents often want to be involved in their child's learning process. During a Mommy and Me lesson, our certified instructors teach your child while coaching you to personally develop your child's skills. Reservations are recommended for this private lesson.

Small Fry Try

(skiers ages 3-4, snowboarders ages 5-7) Get your child off to the right start with this 45 minute private lesson; a great way to introduce them to the sport!

Ski and Snowboard Camps

Ski and snowboard camps are a great way for kids to sample skiing or riding for the first time or improve their skills at any level. Lunch, morning and afternoon activities can be added to round out the day.

Mini Camp

Mini Ski Camp (age 4-6, levels 1-8)  Mini Rider Camp (age 7-9, levels 1-5)

Mini Camp has a smaller child per instructor ratio during the lesson. Within the group, children are placed in ski lessons according to the skills they demonstrate. This camp is tailored specifically to the physical and emotional learning needs of younger children. With our flexible daily schedule you can choose to have your child with us or with you during any time of the day!

Ski / Snowboard Camp

Ski Camp (ages 7-12, Levels 1-9), Snowboard Camp (ages 10-14, Levels 1-5)

Ski and snowboard camps offer a slightly longer lesson for these older children to provide ample practice time for the skills learned.

Special Afternoon Activities

• Wednesday - A treasure hunt on skis! Come and explore the mountain in search of prizes.
• Thursday - The Big Race on Chet's Knob. Show your skills on our course. Parents invited to watch and cheer for their children.
  

Teen Mountain Guide  (age 13-17)

No longer children, but not quite adults, teens need a place to fit in. With a focus on fun, camaraderie and lots of mileage, teens explore the mountain with the guidence of our knowledgeable instructors as they refine their technique. Open to all ability levels. Offered during Christmas vacation, President's week and Spring Break. Skiing and snowboarding teens will ride together with a highly certified instructor. Groups will be determined by desire to ski green, blue, or black runs. Must be able to control speed and turn consistently down all green runs. Level 4 and above.

Rent from us or bring your own. For the safety of your children, please do not bring equipment in poor condition or skis with safety strap bindings.
