Mountain biking in and around the Big Sky area means miles of back country scenery, wildflowers, wildlife, and few human encounters. Big Sky Resort offers the areas only lift accessible downhill trails from the Ramcharger lift right here in the Mountain Village.  The chairlift operates from 10:30am - 3:30pm everyday.  For those of you who enjoy the uphill burn or a nice comfortable pedal through the forest, you will be delighted to find that Big Sky Resort is surrounded by National Forest Service land that offers hundreds of miles of forest service roads and trails for mountain biking.   On the Mountain at Big Sky Resort riders will find mostly advanced and expert downhill trails, but there are beginner and intermediate offerings as well.  Downhill and cross-country mountain bike rentals are available at the Different Spokes Bike Shop, 406.995.5849

Love the Ride Report

August 28th ,

Delightfully tacky, is the most commonly used phrase right now to describe the trails.  Some cold temps at night and warm sun shine during the day makes a great recipe for riding.

Trail update:  we are working on the final stages of Wounded Knee and hopefully have something by Labor Day weekend.

Please call 406-995-5849 for more information.

Big Sky Resort Single Track Trail Report
Moose Tracks A beginner single track trail that rides through the middle of Andesite’s trees and wraps up with a cruise back to the chairlift along the river.
Pacifier Access road that allows riders to find an easier way down, watch out for the run offs and take it slow around the corners.
Africa Steep entrance shortly followed by a series of jumps allows this trail to push your confidence level.  Then ride the flow of the berm’s to a drop off and send it into a smoothed out landing.
Congo Intermediate trail that allows you to get a feel of downhill mountain biking, ride the berm’s through the trees and build up that poise to get you going faster and faster.
Revenge
(race trail)
Expert level riding, tough single track mixed with rock drops and log drops.  Ladder jumps near the bottom rounded off with the infamous Little England.
Ambush Located right below the chairlift fall line, this intermediate trail allows access to the bike park and of course picture shots from above.
Blue Room Big Sky teamed up with Leverich Canyon trail builders and out came a single track with knee to waist high bank turns and superb fluidity. The black foot option has been re-routed and matches the terrain of Blue Room with a few small jumps.  Blue Room straight through is still the most popular trail we have, and with the new jump in the beginning, it will probably stay that way.
War Dance Expert level riding, single track trail winding down steep pitches and high bank turns.  Cliffs drops as an option at the end of the trail always keeps this run exciting.
Elk Park Closed to biking.  With some of the best views in Big Sky this trail makes for great hiking.

Remember

Prior to using freestyle terrain, it is the rider's responsibility to inspect the terrain, understand that the terrain changes constantly due to weather and use, assume the risk of injury when jumping, and keep control of body and equipment at all times. Please be courteous and respect others, clear the landing areas quickly and ride within your ability.

All of Big Sky's lift accessed mountain biking is intermediate to advanced.  Trails are not patrolled, use at your own risk.  Most of Big Sky's mountain bike trails are steep and rocky: personal protective equipment is advised.

LIMITED BEGINNER TRAILS - PRIOR MOUNTAIN BIKE EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED. EXTREME EXPOSURE.  LOOSE ROCK ROADS.
