Arts Council of Big Sky - Lura Turner and Chris Nemec at Buck's T-4

Join the Arts Council of Big Sky for the second concert in their annual Peggy Dicken Schwer Memorial Dinner Concert Series, as they welcome soprano Lura Turner, along with the piano stylings of Chris Nemec, to Buck's T-4 Lodge on Friday, February 15. Chris and Lura come all the way to Big Sky from Memphis, Tennessee.

Pianist and singer Chris Nemec made his professional debut at age thirteen, and has appeared as organist, accompanist or tenor soloist with Opera Memphis, The Memphis Symphony and Chorus, University of Memphis Opera Theater, and others. Chris has served as associate conductor-accompanist of The Gary Beard Chorale since its inception in August 1987, appearing in concerts at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, The Spoleto Festival (1992, 1994, 1997) and Europe (Vienna, Austria and Melk). He teaches piano, organ and voice in the Lindenwood Studio of Music in Memphis, and he is the staff accompanist for the West Tennessee Metropolitan Opera Auditions.

Lura Turner is a third generation Montanan, and upon completion of a music degree from the University of Montana moved to Memphis to sing radio jingles. Performing on stage is equally important to her, and Lura has performed with Opera Memphis, the Memphis Symphony Chorus, the Mississippi Symphony, Rhodes College, University of Memphis Opera Theatre, Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Gary Beard Chorale, Theatre Memphis, the University of Montana Chamber Chorale, the Jubileers and Musikanten in Helena, MT (soloist at the Myrna Loy Arts Center) to name a few. A Metropolitan Opera District Auditions winner and Regional Semi-Finalist, Lura was an intern with the prestigious Michigan Opera Theatre.
